The Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) was established in 1956 during the Calcutta session of the Indian Science Congress. It was registered as a society under the societies registration act in 1972. The registered office of the national IMS is at New Delhi. The Delhi Chapter of the IMS was established in 1996.
