OPERATIONAL WEATHER FORECAST SYSTEM

AT NCMRWF

The Operational weather forecast system at NCMRWF is based on a Data Assimilation System and a Global Spectral Model at T80 horizontal resolution with 18 vertical layers. The weather forecast system is operational since June 1, 1994. It has undergone several upgradations over the years. This is the only place in India where real time Global Meteorological Data Assimilation and Medium-Range Weather Forecasts preparation are carried out using Numerical Weather Prediction techniques. The Assimilation-Forecast System has been implemented on all the Computing Platforms available at NCMRWF. The Operational Suite runs on CRAY SV1 System.
